Voting Tactically in Edinburgh South ? Read on..
People tell me on the doorsteps that they are worried that if they vote LibDem, they risk splitting the 'Remain in the UK vote'. Based on previous elections, this is not the case:-
2017- in the worst case, if the Labour vote was split 50:50 with us, the LibDems would have won, not the SNP.
2019- in the EU referendum, the SNP did win and we were second. We got over three times as many votes as Labour, and if these Labour voters had voted for us, we would had won. The Labour vote collapsed in Edinburgh South- they were sixth. (You can see these figures at http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/euresults )
In other words, voting LibDem would not have split the anti-independence vote in either 2017 or 2019, and voting LibDem is the best way of voting against independence.
